What We’ll Be Wearing in 2015

iWatch

Apple unveiled its new iWatch today. Right now, it may not seem like we need one, but resistance is futile. We will all be wearing some sort of gadget like this eventually. The iWatch won’t hit stores until early 2015, but with a very sleek design and a range of band styles, it’s going to be a huge hit. Sign me up.

I thought they called it the Apple Watch. Think they are trying to retire the “i’s”.

    Hi…nice to meet you!

I found you through a washington post article…kinda glad to know singledom…whether willfully or not…isn’t perceived so terribly in all eyes.

    Lots of love.

This is actually beautiful. Reluctantly, I agree that eventually many will wear these. After just reading about Apple’s tax evasion tactics it’s hard to be enthusiastic. I’m sure other companies do the same. But Apple presents as liberal and hip so it feels more egregious. I love their products and hypocritically buy them without much consciousness.

There’s a whole category of gadgets called “wearables.” And from what I can glean, they will be a way to transmit our personal health information to our doctors. It’s the future. And the undeniable truth is that Apple designs these things more attractively than anyone else.

I agree that Apple designs are the best. That’s not what I rail against. It’s the bussiness practices. Technology is revolutionizing our world but it isn’t changing economic exploitation and a few people becoming increasingly wealthy and powerful. Apple is no different than other companies in this department and I wish they were. Apple holds its self to a high design standard but to truly change our world other areas will need to be considered.

We’ll see. I have a watch I love, and I intend to be faithful to the old girl. And beyond that, I am about the only person I know who does not own a smart phone. My dad keeps wanting to buy one for me and I keep telling him I have virtually no need for it (I prefer to access the internet via computer, and I don’t need to be checking email, etc when I am not at home or at work). But I suppose the odds are I will get one sooner or later. . . I have to confess, I was using a CD-walkman up until just a few months ago when I bought my first iPod. And now I find the iPod to be about the most wonderful invention ever invented. But that still does not make me want a smart phone (or watch).
