Autumn Envy

Los Angeles has been breaking all kinds of heat records, with temperatures hovering near 100 every day. And in a place where year-round, it’s almost always comfortable to be outside, grumpy residents are huddled indoors, staying close to the AC. We’re sick of it. On my Facebook page, I’ve been seeing lots of photos of fall foliage. I’m visualizing 80 degrees, which right now, would seem like sweater weather.

Autumnal colours in some of those leaves …

Sorry about the heat – this Canadian (now in England) does not miss it …

Seems a bit harsh for mid October.

Ha! I’m glad to hear you experience envy just once because I’m usually envious of your exciting city life! Maryland has never been more gorgeous and perfect than it is right now. I don’t know what it is. I’ve never seen a more beautiful fall in the past 18 years I have been here. Bluest sky, crisp air, beautiful leaves, a lot of farms to visit.

I’m visualizing your fall, and it looks pretty great.

Please enjoy this doubly for me. I’m out here in LA with Wendy roasting! Nineties again next week! I’m literally sick with envy of your autumn. Not a pretty sight.

A little weather break today, but still so humid. Jules, are you also wondering if this is the new normal?

        • Jules says:

Wendy, I truly hope not. Maybe it will be warmer but hopefully not with this “El Nino” humidity. I do hope we get rain that helps the drought. Isn’t it absurd that no system has been developed to save drain off?

I’ve pondered a move to Sonoma County (from Philadelphia), but I would miss autumn (and spring) too much. I could do without East Coast winter, however. And the summer mosquitoes.

I’ve been away from winter for so long, it has become a distant memory. I fleetingly miss autumn, but I can live with that.
