When I moved into my condo more than 5 years ago, I decided to give up my cat, Lily. It was a wrenching decision. She’d been a happy, outdoor cat for all her 12 years of life, and I couldn’t give her that in my new apartment. I knew she’d be miserable indoors. So I left Lily in wonderful, loving hands and still visit regularly. She’s 18 now and not doing so well. This afternoon, we spent an hour together with her purring in my lap. It was a very emotional day.

I love Lilly, such a truly dear soul. Sending you and her my love. XO
She’s hanging in there for now. But her quality if life is definitely diminishing.
Sending lots of love to you and Lily. I just lost my 16-year old Bella and my heart is with you. So glad you had some quality time with Lily.
I might add that Miss Bella loved going out in the backyard, where she was only allowed under supervision.
Lily loved to roam the neighborhood. In fact, she’d sometimes walk around the block with me as I was walking Rose. I didn’t worry about her. She knew how to navigate outside.
I’m not sure how long she has left, but it’s nice to hear her purr.
Sending warm thoughts to you and Lily. I’m glad you’re able to visit with her.
I saw her again today. She sleeps a lot.
Thinking of you and Lily, Wendy!
Good for you for prioritizing her well-being and quality of life.
It was such a brutal decision. I consulted with lots of pet owners beforehand. And it sounded like such a nightmare. I’ve never regretted the decision, even though she was my best sleeping buddy.
Sending warm thoughts to you and Lily. So nice that you got to spend the afternoon with her purring in your lap. I’m sure she knows how much she was loved.
She definitely seemed to perk up, hanging out with me.
A purring cat in your lap is such a lovely thing. As I type my 11 yr old fur baby is purring on my lap. Since she’s gotten older and we moved into an apartment and she can’t go outside (she’d always been an adventurous outdoor kitty like Lily)she has become much more affectionate. I feel bad for making her stay inside so I give her the extra attention. Thinking of you and your sweet girl.
Thanks, Claire. I’m warmed by the image of you hanging out with your fur baby.
My heart goes out to you and sending you hugs.
I had to put down my 19 year old English Setter Abby in July. It’s never easy may she go in peace and cross the Rainbow Bridge when it’s her time.
Thanks, Gigi. It’s a process… Your English Setter lived until 19? That’s amazing.
