2017 Wish List
When coaching clients come to me in career transition and they have no idea what they want to do next, I might ask them to do some visioning. A few people balk at that, and I understand why. When people are in a state of financial stress, visioning can seem like a frivolous exercise to do. But it provides useful clues, and can be the beginning of intention. So, what’s one thing on your wish list for 2017?

Wendy, I’m a little confused about what visioning is, exactly? A vision board? Fantasizing about the future?
With respect to my 2017 wish list, I’d like to teach a food or cooking class. And I’d like a new bike–starting to get into cycling, so it’s time to buy that new road bike I’ve saved for.
I appreciate the question. From my perspective, visioning is getting in touch with a deep passion (or dream) for something, and allowing yourself to imagine its possibility. There are many ways to unearth the vision, like a vision board, mind mapping, or making a list. But an essential ingredient is not allowing an intellectual reality to intervene during the process. Does that make any sense to you?

To volunteer for my political party and actually make a positive change. The interesting thing is most people involved are married. It almost seems like a requirement especially if you ever want to run for office.
Vision/dream being Bernie Sanders Vice President or being the first divorced (and hopefully well dressed)female president!
Great wish list, Gigi. Please keep us in the loop about your volunteering. Senator Cory Booker isn’t married, and he’s doing very well. Also, Lindsey Graham. So it’s possible.
Cory Booker is a bit on the young side for me! However Lindsey Graham could be my match. Have you considered being a matchmaker?
Maybe I will meet him this Saturday in DC when I go the March. It looks like it’s a go if all goes well 🙂
