Such is Life

It’s Friday as I write this. There have been so many ups and downs these last 7 days, starting with the loss of my dear cat, Lily, plus all the political madness. But it has ended on a decidedly up note, with an article I wrote now published at Forbes. Here’s hoping your week ends up as FINE.

    Congratulations on the article!!

My work week ended on Friday morning with my son leaving me a sweet note that a Creme Brulee was in the fridge for me! Friday evening I spent with my daughter and a friend at dinner. Some how the drama at work was a distant memory.

I am beginning to have some faith in our political system again too!
    Cheers!

Fine here today! Yesterday I hosted my first ever salon, a lunch gathering with a prescribed topic (What is Nature?) for a bunch of my friends. Scintillating conversation, wonderful food, and just a joyous explosion of positive female energy. My new cat Henning (named after the Swedish author Henning Mankell) lost his initial skittishness and was quite the hit (he’s been with me for 2 weeks now–I had to have my beloved Bella euthanized right before Christmas).

And, like Gigi, I too am seeing some light in the political tunnel.

Welcome to Henning. (Cool name!) What was some interesting tidbit that you can recall from your nature salon?

Wendy, it was interesting to find out that nobody could come up with a single definition of nature! One of my friends recently moved to what had been a spiritual retreat (she has her own small place there)–she calls herself an old hippie and is probably the only one of the group who lives in a truly rural home. She shared with us the concept of “nature deficit”, which she’d read about. Another friend now sees nature as a threat, due to having had until recently undiagnosed Lyme disease. We had a Master Gardener, a writer, a massage therapist, a retired occupational therapist, a diabetes drug researcher, a corporate communications specialist, a hearing scientist, and a real estate broker. Like snowflakes, no two answers were alike!

    Sorry about your cat.
    Good article.
