Most Luxurious and Satisfying Splurge

A friend recently bought a high-end BMW. And though he has treated himself well through the years (and has earned it!), I’ve never seen him so happy with any purchase as he is with this car. Sometimes retail therapy does work. This got me to wondering about luxury items I’ve acquired that were really worth it. More than a decade ago, I invested in a handmade Angela Adams rug. At the time, it felt very extravagant, but I still adore it. What’s your most satisfying splurge?

This one is easy: my burnt orange Staub enameled cast iron soup pot with the little acorn handle. Every time I use it, I feel joyful.

The Tiffany ring I bought myself when I made partner at my law firm. A simple diamond & ruby eternity ring. I still adore it 20 years later, and wear it every day.

Well not sure this qualifies as retail therapy but I had some plastic surgery 10 years ago and to this day I don’t regret it. It turned out better than expected and my tummy now matches the rest of my body.

My beach front house in Sydney ! I’m away from it currently , living in Houston of all places , I feel out of time and space when ever I’m on its veranda and watching the water or sunset .

The only time I’ve splurged on myself was when my ex-husband passed away and inadvertently left me his life insurance. I quickly used that money and bought a fur coat (long time ago and in Chicago – very cold)! Never regretted doing it but wish I had purchased a black mink instead of what I bought. And for a while, I laughed every time I bought it. Only good thing I got out of my marriage.
