After days of New Year’s holiday festivities, crammed into close quarters with nearly a thousand people, I came down with a cold. It was worth it, as one of the holiday highlights was sitting a few seats away from Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, who attended services this year at my synagogue. Upon waking up with a raspy throat, I immediately walked to Trader Joe’s and bought supplies. Fixings for chicken soup, honey and lemon for tea, and salt water to gargle. I find that this ritual and the mixture of ingredients helps me mend more quickly. Or at least that’s what I tell myself.
Hope you feel better soon! I had a bit of cold with a lot of lethargy the other week. My paralegal brought me ingredients to make a spicy tea (lemon, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, chili pepper, honey, and I think I’m forgetting something). It was actually pretty good. I nursed my cold with Gatorade and ramen noodles. Not nearly so nice as making a soup from scratch!
I’ve got it down where I can put up a pot of chicken soup in 5 minutes (as long as I’m willing to wait 3 hours for it to be done.) Your paralegal’s concoction sounds good too!
