As FPS readers know, I’m an avid cook. I find it creative and relaxing and, as a single person, I take special pleasure in sustaining myself with good food. As much as I love cooking, I dread home repair. With that as context, I’ve had a growing concern about my oven, which was running between 50 and 75 degrees cooler than the indicated temperature. It was becoming a real issue when I wanted to cook things at high heat. It was clearly time to call in a repair person. Over the weekend, before making the call, I decided first to see if there was anything I could do on my own. Highly skeptical, I searched online for the oven manual – and there on the very last page, were recalibration instructions. It was easy, taking only minutes to fix. What a victory!!
Excellent! The internet and you tube are invaluable for home repair. God bless the folks who make those videos just for fun!
It’s hard to describe how really good this felt.
Wow. I’m so impressed that you even attempted this. And you’re inspiring me!
It’s so not my instinct to fix things like this. It was a hail mary pass, and it worked!!!!
You are my hero!
On Wednesday, I led a 2-hour networking workshop for the LA Chamber of Commerce. Recalibrating my oven in under 3 minutes was the most empowering moment of the week.
not to mention the fact that you saved a “BUNCH” of money – you go girl you are a brave soul
As I write this, I’m high pre-heating my oven now, for pizza. So glad it’s fixed.
