One of my clients was telling me about his aging mother, who at 87 is unstoppable. This is despite having macular degeneration, an eye disease which has left her practically blind. At his house for a recent visit, she insisted on making him an apple pie, and as hard as that task is to imagine of a woman who can’t see, her top crust was latticed. #MindBlown

My Aunt Jane who is in her early nineties, also practically blind, loves making apple pie too. It’s a curious choice but such a comfort food and that familiar smell can’t be beat.
How does she turn on the oven?
