What Are You Reading?

I’m reading Jane Mayer’s piece about Christopher Steele in The New Yorker. (And about 6 years ago, I did read the new translation of War & Peace.) What are you reading?

Comic by John Atkinson.

    Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews

  2. Just picked up Lost Connections by Johann Hari. One of the many library books I’m currently reading!

American Salvage by Bonnie Jo Campbell and an edition of New Stories from the Midwest (which features a story of Campbell’s). Both are collections of short stories. American Salvage was a National Book Award finalist one year. Her stories are largely set in Michigan, where she grew up. I’m becoming more aware of the literary talent born of my adopted home.

For years, I had a weird attitude about short stories. And ever since George Saunders set me straight, I’m in love with them.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.

In Hollywood news, I just read that Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are producing and starring in a series based on this book!

Just finished Apollo 13 by Jim Lovell and Jeffery Kluger. Almost finished with Leonardo da Vinci by Walter Isaacson. Just starting Complete Stories by Kurt Vonnegut (massive new collection of his short stories, some previously unpublished).

I just finished George Saunders’ LINCOLN IN THE BARDO. EXCELLENT! Most poignant and powerful book I have read in a long time. And now I’m involved in Ron Chernow’s huge biography about George Washington, huge being 900 pages.
