Dad Memories

My father had no talent for home repair. In our basement, there was a small woodshop filled with tools, but I don’t remember him ever going in there. And for better or worse, I share this trait with him (as well as his love for carbs). Dad was kind and loving and walked through life with enormous grace. Any of your Dad memories you’d care to tell?

My Dad was the coolest Dad ever and I hope everyone thinks that about their own Dad.
He had a very strong love of family and he enjoyed horse racing, the stock market, and poker and a fine scotch. He also had the most gorgeous hazel eyes and looked a lot like jazz artist David Benoit.
He died in 2004 and like my Mom I will forever miss them but be ever so grateful I was privileged to call them both my parents. I lucked out in the parent lottery!
Tomorrow I will have a scotch in his memory and toast him 🙂
    Happy Father’s Day Dad xo

My dad is very, very handy, but me, not so much. Still, I can do some things (like clean my gutters, although I do live in a ranch house and I have to give myself a pep talk every time I go beyond the second rung of the ladder).

A Dad memory: my sister was getting a new bike. I was envious, but I knew I shouldn’t be, so I tried not to cry (and I probably did have some tears welling that I desperately tried to suppress). He told me that he wanted to show me the bike he got for her. I followed him, only to see that he got TWO bikes, one for her and one for me! Mine was blue, her’s was green–Schwinns!
