Documenting Your Life
There’s a single Mom down the hall in my building who lives with her 13-year old daughter. They moved in when her daughter was 9, and it’s been fun watching her grow up. In the last 6 months, I’ve noticed how often her daughter takes photos, whether it’s posing with girlfriends, or even her dog (who now has his own Instagram page). And it got me to thinking about what it will mean for this generation coming up, to be so hard-wired to document all the aspects of their lives.

I don’t use any social media except twitter (which I don’t use to post about myself so I find it different from Instagram, etc). People seem surprised, sometimes annoyed when we meet in person and I’m not already aware of their vacation, new dog, whatever thing that’s happened recently. Like it’s my fault and I should know what’s going on with them. I thought the phone call or meet up was to catch up? I guess I’m a curmudgeon at the ripe old age of 37?!?
I still enjoy a good phone call.
