Household Chore
Regular readers of FPS know I didn’t inherit my mother’s ambition for housekeeping. Because I don’t like clutter, I’m good at the tidying up part (with the exception of my desk), but the love of deep cleaning has always eluded me. The one exception is laundry, which I do every Sunday with glee. Ironing not included! What’s your favorite household chore?

Laundry is one of my favourites too! I also like washing up by hand – I don’t have a dishwasher so I listen to podcasts and methodically wash, rinse and stack the dishes to dry. I recently discovered Dr Bronner’s Sal Suds and the smell makes me very happy to do the cleaning. Unfortunately I am not so enthusiastic about vacuuming or mopping my floorboards. It is always the last job on my list and I give up before I get to it!

“Favorite?” How about “dislike least?” And that would be laundry, probably because the machines do most of the work.
Oh, and I think you meant to write “elude,” not “allude.” Hmm…wonder how the love of cleaning could allude to you? 🙂

In the winter, when it’s dark outside and I’m all cozy in my house, I find doing dishes by hand to be rather meditative. Yes, I have a dishwasher, but as a one-person household, I’m not always generating a ton of dishes.
And I like to fold dish towels out of the dryer. But not bath towels for some reason.
Interesting dish towels v bath towels. Is it the size?
I fold the kitchen towels on my center island, smack dab in the middle of my well loved kitchen. Plus, many of them have interesting designs and patterns, unlike my should-be-replaced solidly colored bath towels.
Forgot that I also like emptying the dishwasher and putting everything into its place.
Sounds like it’s time for new bath towels.
In the past couple of years, I have tried to eliminate the clutter. Take as much to Goodwill as they will accept, throw away a lot of other things. I find that I don’t want to be around any memories. So I guess that is one form of cleaning.
In terms of regular chores, I do tiny amounts at a time. I can’t remember ever having done a full house cleaning, though I have ordered a maid on Amazon to do that. The two things I do almost daily are laundry and load and run the dishwasher. Well, dishwasher is more like every 3rd day, since it’s just me.
As you eliminate clutter, you also give to others. That’s nice!
My favorite is changing bed sheets hands down!
What do you like about that, Gigi? I ask, because it’s one of my least favorite.
Wendy I hang my sheets on the deck to dry outside. So when I change the sheets there is a scent of sunshine and fresh air in them. I love love love that scent.
I can almost smell the freshness –
