August Fitness Plan

Now that I have an elder dog, our walks are shorter and slower (particularly in the heat of summer). What used to be a good source of daily exercise is now mostly a pit stop. But the one thing I’m committed to completing each day is a set of set ups. It’s an easy, achievable win. Do you have a summer fitness regimen?

Doing errands by foot or bike, assuming the weather cooperates and they are within a reasonable distance. I cycle when I can, but between the rains and the heat waves, I’ve not had as much cycling time as I’d hoped.

I think my strength training at the gym will become more routine when the semester starts again in a couple of weeks.

My young dog gets me moving every morning for a 20 minute walk and another after work. It’s not intense enough exercise, so twice a week I meet a trainer before work at the office gym. For 30 minutes he puts me a coworker through the paces with weights and high intensity intervals. I’ve gotten stronger and I love how little time it takes!

I miss the days when my dog was young, while embracing her senior years, too. How great that you’re working with a trainer!
