I use notepads and notebooks sparingly and with confusion. I have trouble transferring info from paper to phone or computer. So I’m caught in the transition. I love having info at my finger tips literally when it’s on my phone or computer.
When I’m writing, I mostly use the computer but sometimes pen and paper help when a break through is needed or when organizing an unruly thought process.
And I mostly journal with pen and paper.
In my first writing class, the teacher insisted we use only paper and pen (or pencil). I had been writing with a computer for so long, that there was a real disconnect between my brain and my hand.
It depends. Like Jules, I prefer pen and paper for journaling–it somehow seems more conducive to freeflowing words (don’t have the urge to correct or edit). Computers and tablets are great for general writing (papers, blog posts, etc.) but nothing beats paper and pen/pencil/Uniroller for idea generation! No matter what handbag du jour is in my hand or on my shoulder, I always make room for a small Moleskin notebook!
The correct writing implement is really important.
