When I first moved to L.A. from San Francisco, I used to sneer at the locals who winced at driving in the rain. What a bunch of wimps, I thought. Now, I totally get it. During our major downpour, a friend who lives across town invited me to dinner, and I decided to stay cozy at home, instead. After more than a decade of living with barely any rain, I’ve lost my skill (and wardrobe) to maneuver in it. It’s humbling when your judgements come back to bite you.
