I don’t know much about visual art. When visiting museums, I spend a lot of the time in my head. But every once in a while an artist’s work goes straight to my heart, and that’s how I feel about Ellsworth Kelly. In some kind of alchemy, his bold, minimalist paintings short-circuit the overactivity of my brain, and make me joyous. What a legacy. His obit here

A favorite of mine as well. I feel his passing viscerally, some kind of cosmic shift. His work always feels relevant even if I’m not sure why – possibly part of great art’s mystery.
