How Not to Alienate a Date
Like Phoenix rising from the ashes, miraculously, I’m on a dating jag. I’m considering how to post about it. I have little interest in turning men with whom I’m trying to be intimate, into frothy (or worse, bitchy) anecdotes.
But wait for it.
If experience is any advisor, a time may come when writing will be the sweet revenge.

Codenames are the key!
Author Kate Christensen (“Trouble”) makes an interesting observation re: writing about real people. In today’s interview with Amy Benfer on Salon, she says that people only recognize themselves when they are described physically, but never, EVER recognize their own psychological profile.
“I’ve found that characters I’ve based on real people, if I’ve disguised them physically, people don’t recognize themselves. It’s hilarious. They just don’t. It never occurs to them that I’m writing about them, because they’re not blond. They’re not 52. They’re not rail-thin or overweight . . . But I’ve never had a person recognize him- or herself whose physical description I’ve altered. I find that fascinating.”
