It has been a year since I launched First Person Singular, which makes now the perfect time to get your feedback. What do you like about the site, what don’t you like (gulp, I can take it), what would you like to see more of? Most of my posts seem to fit into the following categories: dating, food, fashion, sex (yes, I’d like to see more of that too!), artifacts, getting through the holidays, getting through the day, awesome single women. Let me know your preferences. It would be great to hear from you!
(Image: The Black Dress, painted by Alex Katz in 1960 was a visual inspiration for me as I started imagining this site. And I still can’t get enough of it.)
I follow your blog because I relate to many of your observations on singledom, but I love that you include topics beyond relationships (or the lack thereof). I like that your posts are smart and succinct. Plus you always select such beautiful and appropriate artwork to accompany your posts. Keep up the good work!
I’ve been meaning to comment for some time, and your request was nice good nudge to do so. A fresh post on your blog is a real treat–I think you’re doing a great job. The entries are brief but thoughtful, and I absolutely love the artwork. In fact, I kind of marvel at your ability to find so many spot-on images. I’ve learned about a few artists who are actually alive–young, even– and that’s a great added bonus. Of course, peeking into anyone’s dating life is irresistible, and those posts are a lot of fun. But I’m more drawn to those discussions about re-defining what singledom means. A little more of your edge or any kind of cultural criticism would be great. For example, when you posted the clip of the cat lady documentary, it was with rightful skepticism about the producer’s intentions–more of that, please!
