Last December, my go-to friend with whom I’d spend loads of time, met the love of his life, and upended my Christmas. It had taken me years to hone the perfect holiday – an afternoon blockbuster movie at Arclight Hollywood, followed by dinner at home in front of the fire. It’s not that the newbie couple didn’t want to participate (and they did) it’s that I didn’t relish feeling like a lonely, envious, third wheel (which I was). Fast forward to today, where I’m much better prepared. Dinner and a movie is still the plan, the happy duo is still on board, but this year, I’m inviting more friends to fill in the seats.

That sounds like a much better plan for this year. I took last year off from the family and spent a wonderful day with friends and their families. This year I’m going to make the trek to Colorado for the weekend so I can see my nephews open the presents on Christmas morning. I’m thinking of it as a surgical strike – in on Friday, out on Sunday.
Cheers!
Hope your journey goes well!
