Response to Black Swan Mania
Have you caught the new movie, Black Swan? I should be running to see it, given the hours I spend in ballet class. Maybe it’s the phrase, “psychosexual thriller” that’s turning me off. Or skepticism that Natalie Portman (whom I LOVE) could step in without years of training to play a principal dancer in a major ballet company. Hope she’ll prove me wrong. Let me know what you think.

Just saw Black Swan last night and have to say that Portman makes the movie! I hadn’t been too excited to see the movie for the same reason as you, but Portman offers up a stunning acting performance and I think you’ll find her dancing phenomenal as well.
Today, my ballet teacher, who saw the movie, told me he didn’t believe her arms. Not the arms, he said, of a “principal” dancer. I remain skeptical, but curious.
