Last month, I was in Santa Barbara for a weekend getaway. The strawberries tasted more luscious, the stars twinkled brighter, the air felt softer on my skin. Vacations really work.
I have a week away at my parents’ place starting next week (which is a treat for me!) but have just found out I’ll still need to check work emails while there because of a big project that’s just come up. Argh! I break makes such a difference- it’s so nice to get away from the everyday and just re-wind.
Coming up in August, taking a road trip to Red Rocks in Colorado to see Neil Young and Crazy Horse…I have been listening to Neil Young since I was 14 but never got to see him play before now…and have never been to Red Rocks, which I hear is spectacular.
And road trips are my favorite thing to clear my head, especially since flying is No Damn Fun anymore.
I have a room booked at Salish Lodge and Spa outside of Seattle. Going to spend a week there in September. I cannot wait! I’ve been working shifts for the past four and a half months (commuting by car too on I-95…ugh) and I am so ready for my trip. I seriously need some time away from DC and my job!
I am going camping with dear friend in August – interior camping, portaging, no one around – the whole bit…I haven’t even car-camped in several years. It’s the year of trying new things, and if there’s anyone to do this with, it’s with him. It will be beautiful, lots of hard work, and a great memory.

Do you have to check emails all through each day? Or is there a way to set some boundary around it?

Sounds beautiful and relaxing. Hang in there.

It sounds challenging and serene, Kathy. I like my earthly comforts, so I really admire your choice. I’m sure the trip will be amazing.
Thanks for the words of encouragement Wendy!
