In Appreciation of a Parking Spot

For the first time in a long, urban life, I have a reserved parking spot at home. Actually, I have two, as does every unit in my building. Most people here live with a spouse, so I’m one of the few who gets to park sloppy, in between the two spots, which makes pulling in and out a breeze. During the years of living in San Francisco, I’d spend hours driving around looking for a place to park. Now, I take my garage for granted. But not today. Today, it’s on my gratitude list. What mundane, yet transformative, item is on yours?

  1. My dishwasher, which keeps my apartment from becoming a sty.

Hmmm. I am very fond of my garage. When I lived in Maryland, my apartment actually had an attached garage. I loved it because my car was out of the elements and I could store stuff I wasn’t using. My house has a garage too. Now I have more stuff to store (mainly tools for lawn maintenance), but I make sure I still have room to park my car.

Along the same lines as Jalina…I love my parking garage. I pay monthly for it, but I would probably pay double (don’t tell anyone I said that). I don’t have to clean the snow off in the winters and I don’t have to worry if there is an event happening downtown when the garage gets full, I just show my pass and into the garage I go.
I also really love my flatiron, especially today when my hair was super poufy and I looked like Rosannadanna.

I am envious of the dishwasher.

I am grateful that the packet of seeds that I threw in the ground this spring grew. Every day, I am grateful for the large patch of cosmos outside my kitchen window, and the goldfinch who bobs up and down upon them.

My balcony. Its small and faces directly into a hotel and not much else. BUT there are some trees in between, not enough to hide anything but enough for birds to land and squirrels to play and that’s totally awesome. Oh and my cat loves going out there and lounging in the sun.

My balcony too…no one to bother me up there, and I have privacy shades I can pull down. View of back yard, the birds fly by, rabbits in the yard, trees, flowers…love it! I like being up in the air like that….rainy days are great too, can sit in the rain w/out getting wet. And a nice breeze….

Juliet – totally with you on the rainy days. Love being out on my balcony during fierce summer thunderstorms.

You’re all giving me new inspiration for my terrace. (Or is it balcony?)
