1. Chores are my own
2. One sink in the bathroom is enough
3. There’s more than enough room in the bed for me and the dog
4. No disputes about turning on the heat at the slightest bit of chill
5. Complete reign over TV programming
What’s on your list today?
Crown by Jean-Michel Basquiat
1. I can lie on the couch for as long as I want listening to the radio and eating wierd food.
2. I don’t have to explain why I like wierd food.
3. I can buy all the wierd food I want.
4. Take-out leftovers.
If I want to eat popcorn and a diet coke for dinner…then so be it.
I can let the cat lick the ice cream out of the empty bowl if I want.
I can lay in bed at night with the lights out playing Scrabble on my phone.
I can watch a Big Bang Theory marathon in peace.
1. I can listen to my choice of morning radio programming.
2. If there’s nothing good on the radio, I can go about my routine in silence.
3. I don’t have to share my favourite leftovers for lunch.
4. If I want to eat my favourite home-made pizza for the fourth night straight, there’s no one to judge.
5. Sleeping on the diagonal!
Cold pizza, even.
1) Making plans for after work without having to run them by anybody
2) I always control what’s on the TV (or, in my case, laptop + netflix)
3) Nobody leering while I do yoga at home
4) Definitely seconding the “weird food”. When I lived with a dude and was responsible for cooking for us both I had to stop eating things like “casserole of whatever is in the fridge plus rice and a can of cream of something soup” which is what was for dinner last night!
Living alone is seriously the best. I don’t even like roommates, and it would take a lot of convincing to get me to live with someone romantically again. Even when I did, I had my own bedroom.
It has become really hard for me to share a bathroom. A couple of times over the summer, I went in on a vacation rental with a group of friends, and not having my own bathroom was a little difficult to get used to.
I agree with the food thing; last night’s dinner was potato chips.
Practicing guitar without anyone commenting “You STILL haven’t gotten that riff down?”
Not practicing guitar with no one to make me feel guilty: “Shouldn’t you be practicing?” (until I get to my lesson, at least).
Coming home later than planned without having to explain where I’ve been.
No one rearranging my stuff (a constant problem with past roommates).
I like that the food I expect to be in the fridge is still there.
My apartment is ALL mine ALL the time. I really wonder if I would be able to live with someone again be it roommate or partner.
I can do that I want when I want how I want.
The bed thing is real. It takes some time for me to be able to actually sleep well in a my bed with someone else in it.
Solace. I enjoy my time by myself.
No division of chores or conflict about them.
1) No one to judge me for eating takeout every night.
2) No one to complain about me watching a Walking Dead marathon.
3) The bottle(s) of wine is (are) always as full as when I left.
4) Keeping the heat in my bedroom on ridiculously high.
5) No one wanting me to be social in the evenings when all I want to do is veg after a long day.
LOVE the alone time!
Alone time is addicting.
1) No one to complain I came home late.
2) No one complaining about not wanting to watch TV.
3) Able to eat my buffalo summer sausage and crackers in peace.
4) Being able to go to bed after I eat.
5) Enjoying the company of my cats.
What’s buffalo summer sausage?
Sausage made from buffalo (bison)! Buffalo is leaner than beef too.
Yeah, of course. Duh.
1. I can do what I want without checking in with anyone.
2. When I need to be alone, I can be alone.
3. I can leave a dish or two in the sink.
4. I can sit up late watching a movie or sitting on the computer without worrying about disturbing someone else’s rest.
5. I am free to be me.
1. I’m picky about how stuff is arranged in my kitchen. Living alone means that no one is messing around with that.
2. I rarely watch TV, and I’m extremely selective when I do. I don’t have to put up with whatever someone else wants to watch.
3. I also really like that the food I expect to be in the fridge is still there.
4. If I want to have dinner at 9pm, no one complains.
5. I can let the dirty laundry pile up for a week without anyone getting on my case about it. (It’s OK – I have enough clean clothes to tide me over.)
6. I don’t have to worry that anyone else is going to feed my overweight cat a 2nd breakfast just because he begs for food as soon as anyone in the house wakes up and they always seem to assume that he hasn’t been fed yet – I’m tired of the vet chastising me for my cat’s weight!
7. I don’t have to tell anyone when I come and go, and acknowledge that YES, this is the third time I’ve been to Cold Stone Creamery in the last week.
8. I don’t have to explain to anyone that I’ve exceeded the limit of 5 things on this list – I can just exceeed the arbitrary limit if I want to without repercussions, (as long as the website moderator lets me, and they’re usually more forgiving than roommates, ;-))
The more the merrier, Stacey. I can definitely relate to your list.
