There’s a leak in my garage, and a few days ago, a plumber suggested it could have something to do with faulty air conditioning units in the condos above it. One of those condos is mine. My first impulse was to imagine my ceiling having to be ripped open, water damage everywhere, and all the money the repair would cost. And then I remembered the catchphrase: “don’t worry twice.” I’m grateful to report that everything is fine. Have a great weekend!

Discovered that mice have made a cozy home in my home. Sasha, my smart little girl cat, stared intently at the vent upstairs in loft…I bent over to see what she might be looking at and I could hear the scrambling of little feet. Went outside and sure enough, saw them transiting into a hole by the foundation. Didn’t worry twice…took down the remaining bird feeder and cleaned up what I could of the remains of the discarded seeds. Will call Critter Control on Monday and see when they can come out and take a look see. I also found out it is best to have a bird feeder at least 30 ft from the house and to discourage mice from dining on the seeds, put hot pepper flakes in with the seeds. Birds don’t mind, but mice don’t like spicy hot.
Jalina, you sound far more relaxed than I would be about mice. That would freak me out.
Thank you for the bird feeder tip. I was about to buy one, to put on my patio next to a steel door for cat entertainment. (I leave the wooden door open for my cats during winter/spring/fall when not too hot or cold.) I had not thought of the risk of attracting other critters to the house. I shall re-think this plan!
Thanks for the tip, Jalina! It must be pest problem time. I’ve got ants (and it’s winter), so I have a local pest control service coming over to the house in a couple of days.
And yes, Wendy, the “don’t worry twice” is great advice and I’m going to have to remember that (sayeth she would worries thrice!)
BTW, you (and this blog) got a mention in a HuffPo post. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/03/never-married_n_2791393.html?utm_hp_ref=love–sex
Thanks for letting me know about the Huff Post mention. I hadn’t seen that.
