“There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.”

This totally does me in. I hope Mandela isn’t suffering too much. He’s such a moving, towering, and for so long a living, icon. His presence motivates me to be my best self.
Obama called Mandela called one of the most important people in history. What a legacy.
I heard a really moving piece on NPR about people praying/singing outside of the hospital. And the rough translation of the piece of prayers were “If you have to go, we understand”. It brought me to tears. What a person. Hard to even imagine.
Perfect prayer. Thanks for sharing Lola. It moved me to tears as well.
I remember saying that to my Dad, and I believe it really helped him at the end. It was one of the most intimate moments of our knowing each other.
