Flower Girl

Clare ElsaesserMy palette leans towards neutrals, but I love a pop of color. Lately, I’ve been decorating with orchids, which are plentiful at Trader Joes. The bloom can last for months, and they’re practically maintenance free. What brightens your decor?

Another neutralian here. But I have an accent wall in the living room painted a beautiful burnt orange, with the other walls a pale green. Beautiful and vibrant complement to a coffee table with inlaid hammered copper.

My office, largely white, has a bright turquoise clamp lamp on the desk. I just got some paint from Lowes (a more subdued turquoise/teal color) and I plan to paint the window frame that color. Since I’m redoing the office (bit by bit), I’ll be looking for color pops to act as a visual OOMPH to contrast the white.

You’ve given me another reason to appreciate singledom–the ability to be the sole arbiter of decoration for one’s domicile. I think of a colleague of mine–her husband insisted on a glass topped coffee table with a drawer (the glass lies on top) so that he could display his collection of knives (hunting, etc., not cooking–I display those so it must be okay 🙂 )

You must be psychic, Wendy! I’m sliding into decorator mode again and am thinking about making changes (small ones) to my interior.

Your wall sounds beautiful. I have a number of burnt orange accents in my living room – lamp shade, throw pillows. We’re on the same wavelength.
