I love that everything’s all sparkly and shiny – Christmas lights, ornaments, tinsel, etc.

    I also love Christmas music.

When I was growing up in a very Jewish NYC, we used to drive around searching out neighborhoods where there were Christmas lights, just so we could have an experience of them.

Oh, that’s an easy one–cooking Christmas dinner with my sister (my most very favorite in the world ever and ever amen sous chef!) The main will be a stuffed roast capon, but we haven’t decided on the sides or the dessert. Of course, one needs to share a sisterly cocktail during preparations!

Number two is colorful Christmas lights on shrubbery, best beneath a an inch of snow so as to mute the edges–beautiful!

Totally unrelated note–I shared the Hopler poem “Meditation on Ruin” with a friend of mine. It’s very powerful in a “deep gut” way and I thank you for introducing me to it.

I’m just planning my Christmas menu too. Your main course sounds delicious, and how lovely to have a companion in the kitchen.

    1. It’s A Wonderful Life

    2. My cousin Phyllis’ Christmas Eve Carol-A-Thon–populated mainly by Jews but also Christians and anyone else who wants to sing.

    3. Festivus! What would the Holidays be without the heartwarming Airing of Grievances and, of course, the Feats of Strength!

    4. The Yule Log
