I’m getting ready to unplug, at least until tomorrow. Next week, I’ll be announcing a new contest. Have a great weekend!

Boy does this hit home right now for me Wendy. I decided to bail from Facebook for Lent (I’m not even a practicing Catholic). I finally tired of the drama and now with me being offline for about ten days I feel much more in touch with the world again. I read my morning papers, read the magazines I subscribe to, work on my house…you name it. Suddenly there is time to get things done, to enjoy beautiful days, and realize there is more to life than Facebook. It has freaked a few people out that I have disappeared from it and so far I have not had the urge to log back in. Granted we cannot completely escape technology in our world today, but taking a break now and then is highly refreshing!

    Great video.

I stopped Facebook activity as well – I have an account still, but it’s only to log in and see what my best friend is up to on the other side of the world. I don’t think it’s fair for me to ask her to email me pics separately when she’s posting most of them. I don’t miss posting or checking out other people at all. My online presence is minimal. Too much time spent living my life.

About a year ago I heard about how it’s important to have a strong, good online presence, and potential employers look you up via a service that assigns a “rating” to your online presence. If your rating wasn’t strong/good, it might affect your chances of employment. I find that rather sad. I know many folks who spend all day at work on the computer, and the last thing they want to do in the evening is blog, tweet, or use Facebook.

I’m a big fan of technology. But it’s important for you to control it, rather than the other way around. I got on Facebook and Twitter early on, but they’re both starting to bore me now. I wonder what the next new thing will be.
