Taking the Plunge

Mira RuidoIt’s sweltering in L.A. this week, with temperatures nearing a hundred. There’s a swimming pool where I live, and I’m ready to jump in. Plus, I like the metaphor. What spring leaps are you contemplating?

I just accepted a new job in a city I’ve never been to. That feels like a plunge!

Congratulations! I’ve done that a couple of times now –one place I had never been to except for the interview– and while it’s jarring and will make you crazy-anxious, it’s so thrilling too. I always tell myself “Other than giving birth and killing someone, there is no action that can’t be done undone.” If it doesn’t work out, the interstate runs in two directions, you know?

I’m so happy for you! 🙂

When I relocated from San Francisco to L.A., I was nervous about leaving so much behind. But it has been a most exhilirating journey. And I wish the same for you.

    Lauren FTW! Congratulations!

On my end, I’ve launched my second blog and made a new friend. And (this is a really big thing for me), I actually went to seek medical attention for something instead of hoping it would go away. After falling and hitting my head on the curb, I actually took myself to the emergency room (I haven’t been to one in 40 years). I wasn’t feeling dizzy or nauseous, I didn’t have a headache, my speech wasn’t slurred, I never lost consciousness–still, it’s my HEAD. I actually had to tell myself to just just go to emergency and not to Google for symptoms. Got out of my comfort zone (which is the crux of diving in). BTW, CT scan showed everything normal. Just need to monitor myself for a couple of days, but I do feel fine.
