Wendy, I love this ad too! Misty Copeland is my new girl crush. I live in Baltimore where Under Armour is headquartered so it feels extra sweet to be living here as this great promo is released.
This is such an inspired promo. As someone who takes ballet class many times a week, Misty Copeland is AMAZING!! BTW, have you ever used an Under Armour headband? Coincidentally, I was just researching them online.
I’ve not purchased their hairbands but I have a workout shirt and it’s as comfortable as you can get. My office, before we moved, used to be just across the harbor from Under Armour HQ. We could see their big sign on their building and everything. From what I’ve read, they consider female athletes to be an audience to cultivate and I applaud that. Now if only they would stop using so much pink in their running shoes!
I’ve often heard that everyone looks good in pink. But it looks awful with my skin tone. And I refuse to buy pink in gifts for friends who have baby girls.
Great ad! I’ve never taken any ballet, but I do enjoy watching it.
The kinds of biases that exist within it are infuriating, though. “You have the wrong body for ballet, and at thirteen, you are too old to be considered.” Bah, humbug!!!!
At my ballet studio, there’s a professional track with young students, and most of the girls start when they’re 4 or 5. So 13 is pretty old, but she’s obviously an exceptional talent.

I love this video. My daughter is also pursuing professional dancing, I had her watch it with me, very inspirational
I’ve watched it about 5 times already. Dancing can break your heart, but it’s one of the great passions of my life.
