Water Guilt

Kristen Martincic

We’re in the midst of one of the worst droughts on record in California, and I should think about it more while luxuriating in the shower. I’ve grown accustomed to never keeping the water running while brushing my teeth, but I flush the toilet more often than is advised. I wonder whether I ought to be rinsing my plastic orange juice container before recycling. I need to pay attention.

We Remember

At a hotel in Toronto for the film Festival, I was zipping up my suitcase watching the Today Show, getting ready to return home to San Francisco. 5 terrifying days later, I was finally able to find a flight back, and for the first time, we were handed plastic cutlery to eat with our in-flight meal.

What We’ll Be Wearing in 2015

iWatch

Apple unveiled its new iWatch today. Right now, it may not seem like we need one, but resistance is futile. We will all be wearing some sort of gadget like this eventually. The iWatch won’t hit stores until early 2015, but with a very sleek design and a range of band styles, it’s going to be a huge hit. Sign me up.

Joan Rivers, RIP

Joan Rivers

There’s a wonderful documentary from 2010 about Joan Rivers called Piece of Work. Until I saw it, I had no idea of her relentless drive and hustle. She refused to give up or give in. And that was part of why Joan Rivers was relevant until her last breath. I really admire that. What a pioneer. What a life.
