Hanging in There

Navid Nuur

Today, I noticed a few stray tourists still wandering around L.A., but most everyone I know has returned to work. It’s a rough reentry. I welcome this visual inspiration from Navid Nuur.

Yeah, ‘imho’ T.S. Eliot should have started The Wasteland with “January is the cruelest month”. I’ve always found this month to be LOOONG, with so little to look forward to. Currently I’m on vacation! Taking my head out of the game for awhile.

It’s rough on the psyche not to have something to look forward to. That’s in part why on Sunday I made a big batch of bolognese sauce, so I could have extra in my freezer.

Yum! It makes such a difference having good food around the house. Well, with the Seahawks win today I’m definitely looking forward to the Superbowl….guess that these ruts never last too long 😉

Congrats on your team getting in the Superbowl. That’s so much fun! In San Francisco, I always enjoyed the social aspects and the good food when my team got to play in big games. I’m still an SF fan even though I live in L.A., which makes for lonely times during sporting events. Where will you be watching it?

Thanks! A friend of mine wants to get a group together…..we haven’t made firm plans yet, I kind of like the idea of going to a sports bar b/c it can be so fun with all of the other people around. That’s how I watched last Sunday’s game. We live in Portland but pretty much everyone down here is a Seahawks fan. Last Sunday’s game had such a magical ending it’s turned me into a football fan overnight…..previously I’d had a bored/cynical attitude towards football (“I don’t get all the rules” “it’s such a slow game” “it’s just a bunch of men trampling each other”) but watching the Hawks come from behind and score 15 points in 44 seconds & then win in overtime, and seeing Russell Wilson’s emotional response after the game has really endeared me 😉
The 49ers have quite a legacy…..were you living in SF when Joe Montana was the QB?

For Seahawks fans, it must have felt like a magical game. A sports bar sounds like a lot of fun. I was living in SF during the Joe Montana/Jerry Rice days. It doesn’t get better than that.

Yeah, I’ve watched replays of the game over and over. Wow, you definitely have some fond SuperBowl memories!

Those games were such a long time ago, I can barely remember. But I’m glad to have such recent memories of the SF Giants winning the World Series.
