How to Cope with Jon Stewart Leaving The Daily Show

Jon Stewart

Watching Jon Stewart is a huge part of my weeknight routine. I settle in with dinner and a martini, and know that I’ll be in good hands. During those times when it has felt like the whole country was going insane, his humor and perspective could talk me off the ledge. It’s hard to imagine life being as sweet without his presence. I might need to get out more.

Creating Companionship

Duy Huynh

There’s a handsome pug that lives in my building and his name is Tobie. My dog is wild about him. When the owner takes Tobie for his evening walk, Rose barks like crazy until I take her outside for a sniff. On occasion, we accompany Tobie and his owner for a stroll around the neighborhood. It’s a pleasure to stumble into company.

Non Negotiables

Pascal Campion

Early Sunday morning, my brother–who lives in New England–emailed a photo of a thermometer perched on a mound of snow outside his house, with a reading of below zero. I waited a few hours until it was 70 degrees in L.A, and then sent him a screenshot of my weather app. This is typical for us. We’ve been having this conversation for decades. He loves braving the winter. I can’t bear it. Sometimes, I wonder if anyone could lure me out of Southern California. It’s hard to imagine. Warm weather is one of my non negotiables.
