Why I Posted My Dog’s Photo on Facebook
Rose turned 10 yesterday. And as an experiment, I posted this shot of her on Facebook. For years, I’ve scrolled through countless images of friends’ engagements, marriages, anniversaries and babies with some envy at how many likes they amassed. Now was my chance, and I was curious to see the response. The results were stellar. But of course. She’s a rockstar.

Rose was rescued as a puppy at around 8 weeks. It has been a joyous decade together!!

I post pics of my kitty on FB from time to time, and he has always gotten much love from my friends.
I was glad to see the FB love for another species.
And why not?? Happy birthday to Rose! My Lola (black Lab; one of three) is turning 15 next week and will be widely feted on fb I’m sure. I also have a 4-mo old who shows up frequently to much acclaim (who doesn’t love a puppy??) And my 9-yr old has his own page (but he is terrible about updating it). I think he has more friends than I do.

Facebook is a curse, isn’t it? Just the other day I got really down on myself for having a hum drum life after seeing a former college classmate’s photos of her skiing and rock climbing adventures. She splits her time between Utah and Colorado and in either location, she can walk up into the mountains at any time! Jealous!!
I saw a great tweet the other day – “Life isn’t as good as it looks on Facebook, or as bad it sounds on Twitter.”

I used to post pictures of my own furbaby (my cat), and he always got a lot of likes. (He passed away in July, 🙁 ) I used to joke that he was more popular on Facebook than me, but it really wasn’t a joke – it was actually true!
Rose has a much better social life than me. So it goes…
