Langers is a Los Angeles deli that makes what many think is the best pastrami sandwich in the world. I’m no expert, but I did grow up in New York City, the deli capital, and I would have to agree. Their rye bread is double baked and freshly sliced, and the meat is hand cut into thick, peppery slices. This gets my enthusiastic vote. What gets yours?

I have to say as a native New Englander, that nothing compares to a good lobstah roll. Fresh, whole Maine lobster claws soaked in butter on a perfectly toasted hot dog bun. That bun should be jam packed with whole claws. The lobster should be served cold and the bun served hot. No mayo, no shredded up canned meat, just the original. Simple and heavenly!
A few years ago, I visited my brother in Massachusetts, and we drove to Salem, and had the most amazing lobster roll. OMG. It was amazing.
Lobstah roll takes it for me being a NE native as well. But, embarrassingly despite living in LA, I haven’t been to Langers. I think you’ve inspired a jaunt. And I love a good rye bread, added motivation.
Jules, you must go to Langers. You will not be disappointed.
I love BLT’s in the summer with a vine ripe tomato and crisp bacon.
Just today, I was longing for tomato season. The good ones are still a few months away.
