A Single Breakfast

Sallie Harrison

With no one looking over your shoulder at home, there’s real eating freedom being single. The only thing standing between you and your favorite food is a willingness to cook it, or the takeout menu. During this past holiday weekend, I had a giant chocolate chip cookie for breakfast, and it was very satisfying. And then there’s cereal for dinner. This is the good life!

Where is Your Happy Place?

Alessandro Apai

Summer’s coming. Will you be on a blanket at the beach, in a boat by the lake or cozy inside reading a book? I’ll be grilling white corn on the BBQ.

What Would You Erase?

Tom Friedman

There are a couple of choices, that in retrospect seem pivotal, that I would like to redo. It’s a waste of time, really, so I try not to get stuck there. But every once in awhile, I wonder, what if….?

Never Say Goodbye

When Mad Men debuted in 2007 with these gorgeous opening credits, I was an instant fan. Online, I watched the title sequence again and again, even showing it to a web designer as inspiration for First Person Singular. It was with a heavy heart that I viewed the finale. But I made a celebration of it, inviting friends over for dinner of Pot au Feu and chocolate. I’ve already rewatched the final episode, and I’m comforted the show will live on in digital perpetuity.
