I’ll be on the grilling patio with my 2 grills and smoker, at the farmers market–buying wonderful local and seasonal produce–to cook and can in my new kitchen (okay, I’ve already started this! Canned some strawberry-rhubarb jam and pie filling as my first foray into canning with a power burner). I’ll be in the (little) garden with my herbs and peppers. And on the deck with a cocktail!
I enjoy grilling in the summer. I keep it pretty simple with burgers and hot dogs. I enjoy the side dishes the most. You and Petra are inspiring me to enjoy seasonal produce more this summer!
My happy place? Sitting on my balcony with a cold glass of white wine, tapas-like snacks before me (preferably some vegan cheese, green olives stuffed with sundried tomatoes, crackers, artichoke spread, some cherries, perhaps) a great book, and my binoculars to watch the birds in the trees outside my condo. And listening to WPFW, the DC jazz station. This is my kind of happy place and I hope to spend a lot of Sundays this summer here.

Yes, let’s not forget the cocktail. What do you make in the smoker?

On Sunday morning, I go to a superb farmer’s market in Hollywood. And right now, it’s exploding with produce. Very exciting!
I’ll be attending the many festivals/events special to summer; movies in the park, beer festivals & monthly art walks! so excited.
That’s a good reminder, Meghan. We have a free jazz series here at our local museum, and it’s a fun thing to do.

I am now on a mission to find green olives stuffed with sundried tomatoes. Where do you get them?
