Love Child

Brooke Barker

Last week, my dog sprained her paw while rough-housing with a spirited and much younger black Labrador. She got stepped on and squealed. Watching her limp around nearly broke my heart. The vet recommended rest and anti-inflammatory medication. No long walks, no jumping on the bed or running up and down stairs. I carried her around and, in the process, buffed up my biceps. What we’ll do for love.

I’m a vet and can’t even bring myself to work on my own dog. If he needs veterinary attention, he has to see one of my colleagues. What we do for love, indeed! Hope your pup gets well soon!

A few weeks ago my life filled with over the top trauma which made it necessary for my 10 lb dog to stay with my daughter who has many many stairs in her house.
Though the dog isn’t but 2 years old maybe (rescue so not sure what age he is), he acquired a yelp & a limp when he walked on uneven surfaces. After the initial pain, he limped for only a moment…then was all normal till the next episode.
Vet thought he was having mental/attention issues as a result of my absence.
His problems continued even 3 weeks after we were back home together.
I decided he really had something inflamed & started him on 1/8 tsp totally organic Turmeric.
After 3 weeks he’s issue free. Seems Turmeric is a natural anti inflammatory as potent cortisone. Herbs do seem to take a bit longer to get in the system but do their magic in the end.
