After 10 days of reflection and a 26-hour fast (followed by bingeing on bagels and lox), I’m still in a contemplative mood. Watching the Pope on TV today, I welled up with tears. The gentle way he communicates our shared responsibility isn’t the typical fiery rhetoric. But his embodiment of humility and humanity deeply moves me. What’s your Pope experience been like?

Agreed. The Pope’s visit is as much a gentle, loving admonition to remember who we really are, each of us marvelous and worthy of love, as a direct call to arms to address the world’s most critical challenges on which our collective survival and humanity depend. Regardless of religion or spirituality or lack thereof, he’s an emissary of light and goodness…something our word dearly needs, and needs more of. I’m so grateful for his tender, yet quietly (and necessarily) provocative presence among us.
Beautifully articulated. Thanks, Sabine.
Woke up grumpy and late for work
Driving and his warm, tender, powerful voice fills my car
Irritation slips away
Turn up the radio reaching for each word
Soothed, moved, inspired
Smiling with quiet tears
Not the usual commute
What a transformative arc to your morning. That’s powerful.
This photo made me laugh out loud. She’s so stinkin’ cute.
I’ve looked at the photo so many times today. The Pope dog looks a lot like my “bijoodle” Rose, who’s stinkin’ cute too.
I wanted to like this Pope, hoping he was different than his predecessors, more human and genuine. I really, really wanted to like him, but the news that he actually met with Kim Davis has pretty much ended any admiration I have for him. He’s a politician, trying to appeal to everyone by telling them what he thinks they want to hear.
But that Pope Dog is adorable!
The Pope’s meeting with Kim Davis has also left a sour taste in my mouth. I really don’t understand it.
