You picked a good cheese there, Wendy! I sometimes think cheese is my reason for living 🙂 I have planned vacations around cheese (not a joke) and am looking forward to discovering even farmstead and artisanal cheeses this year. Do you have favorite cheeses?
Cheese is my ultimate indulgence food. And there is such a diversity of amazing ones, all starting with such a simple product as milk. I still remember when I discovered Morbier …. and Garrotxa. Yum.
It would be interesting to know how the cheeses for each state were chosen, and what they all are.
Morbier was a revelation for me as well. I love a beautifully gooey triple cream that has truly ripened and served at room temperature with a simple green salad with mixed butter lettuces, shaved fennel and olives.
That would be so cool, hanging up in my office! Thanks for thinking of me!
And I too, could not be a vegan–LOVE dairy (cheese is #1, with ice cream in the runner-up spot, flanked by the other contenders yogurt and butter).
I”m known for having a delicious (and often uncommon) cheese as an appetizer when I entertain. Giving a “Ladies Lunch” next week (several friends are driving up to my place for some excellent and hilarious conversation). I’ll be making a trip to Indianapolis to pick up, among other things, some awesome cheese!
You really read my mind with this! I’ve been craving a meal of cheese and bread recently! We have a beautiful cheese shop in our area that puts together wonderful cheese and charcuterie boards with all the accompaniments and I was obsessing about stopping for a takeout plate on the way home. I didn’t do it yesterday but it might be in my future soon.
Check out this week’s New Yorker – review of Murray’s Cheese Bar cheese-themed restaurant: ‘it turns out that there is no such thing as too much cheese.’

I also love this map (says the geographer!)
When I posted this Petra, I thought of you. You need this poster!! I don’t think I’ve met a cheese that I don’t like.

I couldn’t be a vegan. When I eat cheese, I feel like I’m doing something really good for my body and soul.

Favorite new recipe. Grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches http://bit.ly/1T9tOYw
PS I love the map. How do we get one for Petra!?
I’ve just emailed the woman who created the cheese map. I’ll let you know if I hear back from her.

I’m also a full in dairy queen.

Great minds think alike!
Lola, bread and cheese (assuming both are good) is a meal made in heaven!
Don’t forget the charcuterie

I will check that out. Thanks!
