When I first moved to L.A. from San Francisco, everyone seemed so mean by comparison. It put me in a defensive posture. But then I realized it had to start with me.
SF has changed a lot since I left. The tech industry has really impacted the city, in ways that I don’t necessarily like. But in general, SF is much smaller and more homogenous than L.A. And people there spend less time stuck in traffic in their cars.
Life definitely goes a lot better when I’m nice to others without expecting anything in return. It has to start somewhere.
