Car Fantasies

LEGO VW

Angelenos spend a lot of time in cars. They’re like an extension of our homes. When it takes an hour to go a couple of miles, you want it to be comfortable. Lately, I’ve been having car envy, particularly for a couple of friends who own Teslas. What car are you dreaming about?

I actually am driving my ‘dream car’ – a Subaru Outback that is almost 10 years old. I love it. Great to drive, very reliable, and solid (I can say, having been rear-ended a few times and come out the ‘winner’ every time). After a few past very snowy winters I am seeing a lot more of them around. Having 4-wheel drive gives me a great sense of security. And the sound system is great too!
There are a number of Teslas in my town, too, but they do not interest me. I would never ever want anything remotely resembling a luxury car.

My friend got a Tesla a few years ago, and sitting in it for the first time, I was in awe, realizing it was the car of the future. I don’t lust after the high end Tesla, but I’m going to check out the cheaper model coming out in 2017.

Yes, when Tesla becomes seen as a smart, forward-thinking option rather than a luxury one, I could get behind that. Too bad so many of the ‘green’ alternatives are often prohibitively expensive and so end up being for the wealthy only.

Tesla doesn’t make many cars yet. As their production gears up, I’m assuming the prices will come down.

The guy who lives above me bought an Audi C5 and I went thru a period of car envy. Then his girlfriend got an Audi A4 and the envy doubled down. I’m pretty much over that though. I do like the Lexus R350 and also like the Tesla SUV they’re putting out. I’d also like a convertible but my head says it’s not practicle.

I’d like to live somewhere I don’t need a car. But that isn’t likely to happen anytime soon. I have basic Accord that’s only a few years old but lately been thinking I’d like to trade it for a small wagon if I can make an even trade for the Honda. My dog sheds horribly and I want his mess out of my back seat! If I would get my car really clean it would feel like a luxury, ha!

That just makes me want to play with legos.

I bought my dream car 18 months ago – Mazda CX-5

I had my previous car for 15 years and over that time I figured out what I wanted in a new car – and then spent a bunch of time figuring out which car met all those things.

So far I love my zoom zoom 🙂
