I’m disappointed with what the Olympics has become: unfulfilled promises to help people in need; post-Game benefits to the rich (Athletes’ village apartments to be sold as luxury condos for the rich?); corruption in sport (mechanical doping?). And especially in Rio where the waters are teeming with garbage and infection.
Shouldn’t countries be spending that on more ‘humane’ matters?
Sorry to be a downer.
On the other hand, it’s interesting to watch the athletic prowress, assuming the athletes are drug-free.
I agree with you, Kathy as to being conflicted about the Olympics. Los Angeles is pushing hard to get them here in 2024. Ugh. That said, watching the U.S. Gymnastics Team win the gold medal made me tear up.
Not an easy question!
