Yesterday, Apple announced the launch of the iPhone 7. The casing is now so small, it can no longer accommodate a headphone jack. This makes me cranky. There will be workarounds in the short term, but ultimately, we’ll all be sporting wireless headphones. That’s progress.
i am quiet curious. What is the laptop on the left ?
It’s from 1987, called the Walkmac http://www.wired.co.uk/article/colby-walkmac
I just keep thinking about Fahrenheit 451 and the shells that everyone wore on their ears and how they already were basically iPhone headphones and yeah–brave new world, I guess. (sorry for mixed literary metaphors)
There’s this great photo, I think from the 1960’s, with all these men on a commuter train, not interacting, buried in their newspapers. Some things never change.
Farenheit 451 is one of my all time favorite books. I need to re-read it, been a while.
Yes! I highly vote you read it again–it holds up and actually feels even more important of a read these days.
I have such political anxiety these days. I’m a little afraid of reading it now.
Wendy, I know exactly what you mean. I recommend re-reading it on a sunny afternoon 🙂
I’m hoping it’s sunny the morning after election day.
amen about that sunny day in particular.
I just came in from walking my dog, and a few neighbors were discussing the election. All on the same page, all freaking out.
