I’m in Vacuum Sealer Heaven

Oliso

A few weeks ago, I got my hands on an Oliso vacuum sealer. I’ve been drooling over this product for years. As FPS readers know, I’m a huge advocate for cooking in bulk and storing small portions in the freezer for upcoming meals. I do this on a regular basis with stews, chilis, ziti and even baked goods. (This photo is a pair of lamb chops.) Zip lock bags and plastic containers are staples in my kitchen, but freezer crystals form when I use them. With the Oliso, I can now get a perfect seal. What an upgrate! This is such an exciting tool in the single person’s arsenal.

Speaking of food, I wrote a guest post today about mindful eating and its positive impact on productivity. Please check it out, and if you have the time, I’d love for you to leave a comment.

Wonderful post, Wendy! Not sure I’m up to a full Unprocessed October (some invitations coming up and I’m not about to grill anyone about whether or not the food contains XYZ). But I’ll give this a try during the week.

Last year I did a No Added Sugar, No Sugar Substitutes August and honestly, I DID feel accomplished. Yes, I made exceptions for “those pesky dinner parties” because I’m a good guest, but other than that, the only sweets I had came from fruit (and not much of that either). Muesli, not Bran Buds, for breakfast (yes, the latter does have a few grams of added sugar). Refraining from my daily square or two of dark chocolate (80% or greater cocoa content). Perhaps I should start that again!

BTW, I’d never hear of the Oliso. I will look into it. My kitchen is pretty complete cookware/appliance-wise, but a vacuum sealer is one of the few missing items.

It’s very sleek. And each bag is reusable 12 times. Also, there’s a place to write down the name of the item and freezing date. There are a few things in my freezer (e.g. chicken stock) and I have no idea how long they’ve been in there.

Does bourbon count as unprocessed? Not sure I could make that in my kitchen:)

This looks great. I’ve been wondering about vacuum sealers but they all look so big. This one seems compact. Which model did you buy? I think I might be right behind you with this purchase!

    • Hi Jules –

The Oliso Smart Vacuum Sealer is probably the most compact available (I have one as well, and love it!). AND, if you take my October Unprocessed Challenge, Oliso will give you a huge $50 discount!

Once you sign the “pledge” on my site, you’ll get an email with the discount code to use on their website.

Jules, I loaned the vacuum sealer to our good friends (W & K) after their Costco run. We had a meat sealing party. It was fun! I’ll have to get you the model #.

Wendy, I have such great images of the three of you sealing your way to freezer happiness. The website has three models. Not much difference in price but would like to know what you’re happy with. Thanks!
