In West Hollywood, not far from my home, there’s a massive, annual Halloween carnival. In preparation, the city closes off neighboring streets so that folks in costume can roam around without being hampered by cars. It’s a festive event that brings thousands of people to the area. I’m a Halloween grump. I don’t remember ever finding much thrill in dressing up as someone else (though I must’ve as a kid). My intention for this night is to get parked and settled on the coach before traffic blocks the way. But I appreciate the creativity and esprit that goes into the holiday. What are you wearing?

PJs! Comfy at home too!
My favorite way to spend Halloween.
I’m dressed up as 11 from Stranger Things. I love Halloween, best holiday of the year. I love ghost stories, haunted houses, witches, and demons. All come to life on that night.
I LOVE that you love Halloween!
I’m a Hallowe’en grump, too. No desire to be opening and closing my door for 3 hours catering to kids demanding candy…or “can I have another one?” I worked late instead!
We don’t get kids trick or treating. But I bought candy and secretly left it in a bowl in the lobby of my condo building. It was gone in a flash.
I’m with you, Wendy! Would like to skip it and
go straight to Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving could be my #1 holiday. It’s all about cooking and food.
When did this kiddie holiday get taken over by adults?
Count me in the ‘grump’ cohort!
I’m in awe of adults who like dressing up in costume. It’s so not my thing.
I dressed as myself and went to a bookstore cafe to get some work done (I had a big deadline Monday, which I met early, but I had to get caught up with everything else that I’d put aside). As a bonus, I met a friend and we had a bite to eat. Didn’t do Halloween last year either (same project deadline), but I did it the year before and ran out of candy less than an hour into the event (hundreds of kids). I don’t like the constant interruptions when I have work to do (like the past two years), plus I worry about the cat. But some of the kids were really cute.
Were people dressed up in the bookstore cafe?
