As a kid, I was a lousy eater. My mother had her hands full trying to get me to have a proper meal. I insisted on peanut butter and jelly every day for lunch. I LOVED anything with sugar, and devoured Oreos, chocolate layer cake and ice cream. One of my absolute favorites was devil dogs. I’m excited to try this recipe from Serious Eats. What was your top childhood food?
Cream cheese and jelly on toast.
When I was kid and would occasionally spend the night with my grandmother, she would let me have cream cheese and jelly on toast for breakfast. It was a rare treat.
Now at Christmas I always have Hot Pepper Jelly and cream cheese on crackers it’s so yummy! I wonder why I don’t’ eat it all year long?
I’ve never had that before. Is the jelly just savory, or sweet too?
Uh, oh, Spaghettios! And Strawberry Quik.
Spaghettios was my favorite, too. My, how far we’ve traveled!!
My iconic childhood snack was fruit by the foot. There was also this brand of salami that I used to love to snack on. It was a Hebrew National log of beef salami bologna. Mmmmmmmm.
When was the last time you sampled those?
Fruit by the foot? Probably a month or so ago :-).
It makes me happy to hear that.
