I’ve never been a “big” bag person. Don’t misunderstand. I adore beautiful purses. But I don’t like them to be too large, particularly when I’m covering some distance walking (which is often, even in L.A). Given that my purses are small, I’m pared down to the essentials. Wallet, keys, phone, glasses. And beyond that, the one item I always have with me is a piece of writing paper and a pen. What are you never without?

The usual: wallet, cell phone, reading glasses, keys, tissues, and yes, a pad and a pen. But also lipstick–there’s always lipstick in my purse.
Lipstick is important. Do you have a spare in your purse, or do you actually put it there every day?
It’s a spare I keep in my purse, Wendy.
That makes a lot more sense than my approach.
I keep lipstick in my purse at all times. Usually several tubes at that. I think I only have three in there now but I have had as many as five.
Are the lipsticks in your purse different colors or all the same shade?
I keep several things in my purse and a little pouch I can transfer to other purses. Nude lipstick, eye drops, mirror, concealer, blotting paper, a few advil, . . various “emergency items”. And a pen.
