On Sunday afternoon, I fired up the BBQ to begin making one of my favorite staples – Baba Ghanoush. Before grilling the eggplant, the first step is to pierce the skin in a few spots to vent. But in a post-holiday haze, I forgot to do this and the eggplant exploded all over the grill. It was such a mess. Let me say without shame that I don’t take pleasure in deep cleaning, but in this case, I had no choice. About 10 minutes in, I realized just how dirty my 6-year old grill had become, and wondered, how far should I take this? How clean does an outdoor BBQ need to be? I know what my mother would say. What do you think?
I remember thinking that the first time I used my own grill. I settle for cleaning it after every use, but I only grill in the summer.
Did you end up remaking your Baba Ghanoush? I just love it, and get excited when I can find it ready made. Never make it using the tiny eggplants. What was I thinking? ha ha
Sadly, I didn’t get to complete it because the eggplant was in pieces all over the grill.
